For over a year in the United States, federal law required that anyone traveling on planes, trains or busses, or even visiting train stations and airports, wear a mask when doing so.
Thanks to Florida Federal Court Judge, and true American hero, Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, the Mandate has been deemed unlawful.
Known across the country as the "Mask Mandate", this regulation was a Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) creation that was published in the Federal Register on February 3rd, 2021.
In July 2021, Sarah Pope, Ana Daza, and Health Freedom Defense Fund sued various government officials and the CDC, seeking a declatory judgement that the mask mandate was unlawful, and to have it revoked for violating the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).
The court concluded that the Mask Mandate exceeds the CDC's authority, and violates the procedures required for agency rule-making under the APA. The court has vacated the Mandate, and remanded it to the CDC. This means the mask mandate is officially over for traveling on planes, trains and busses in the United States.

It remains to be seen if the Biden administration will look to appeal the ruling, which they call "disappointing".
